					<description><![CDATA[<p>Floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems offer great opportunities, particularly for countries with land constraints and available water bodies, like Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Japan or the Netherlands. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Floating Solar has continued its expansion, mainly in Asia and Europe. As of end of 2023, the cumulative installed global capacity surpassed 6 GWp. Although it is still considered a relative new technology, FPV systems have rapidly gained popularity worldwide where they have been installed under different conditions. In Singapore, these systems are of particular interest as be seen by the fact that the largest PV system in this country, is indeed a FPV system (60 MWp). Thus, more FPV deployments are expected locally and worldwide.</p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>There has never been a better time to develop PV projects, whether as a capex investment or third-party financed such as under a power purchase agreement (PPA) scheme. At current retail electricity tariffs in Singapore, typical payback periods (ROI) range from 2.8 to 4.5 years for large rooftop systems, making these extremely attractive investments as well as a robust hedge against rising electricity costs and future carbon taxes. Beyond Singapore, utility scale solar farms are enjoying enhanced regulatory support, as political consensus concludes that climate change is real and mitigation is urgent.</p>
<p>For both rooftop and utility scale systems, the economic calculations require systems to perform reliably for 20-25 years, consistent with typical solar panel power warranties.</p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>Site suitability ensures that the solar power plant is optimally located. Placing the plant in unsuitable site and will cause solar PV production efficiency to drop or malfunction.</p>
<p>Learners need to know what constitutes site suitability, how to assess sites, how to conduct energy assessment and how they should optimise solar PV designs.</p>
<p>In this way, they can help to resolve space optimisation problem, derive optimum cost function value, and mitigate technical constraints related to the suitability of the sites for the plants.</p>
<p>This course will equip learners with the knowledge and skills to administer energy assessments and site analysis procedures so that learners can recommend suitable sites and optimisation methods for usable space.</p>

					<description><![CDATA[<p>It is not easy to study the performance of solar PV systems because it varies constantly with differing conditions of parameters and system components. Timely detection of faults and issues are critical so that prompt remedial actions can be taken to reduce damage and cost. Real time monitoring will be needed to keep up with the required observation of the performance of the solar PV system around the clock. Having an Internet of Things (IoT)-based energy management approach will allow for real time monitoring and optimisation of energy consumption to enhance the performance of the solar PV systems.</p>
<p>Learners attending the course will be equipped with knowledge and skills to carry out remote monitoring of solar PV systems using an Internet of Things (IoT)-based approach.</p>
